Terms & Conditions

This translation is provided for convenience. In the event of any discrepancy, the Portuguese version prevails.

Scope of Application

These Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between the visitor (hereinafter the "Guest") and Porto City Hotel, from the moment a booking request is made until the end of the stay. In situations not covered by these Terms and Conditions, Portuguese law in force applies.

Formation of the Contract

  1. By submitting a booking request, the Guest makes an accommodation offer to Porto City Hotel. If rooms are available, the Guest will receive a booking code.
  2. Bookings made through intermediaries (such as tour operators or online platforms) generate a booking code different from the one issued directly by the hotel, and are equally valid.
  3. Booking requests are not binding on the hotel and do not automatically create a contract. Porto City Hotel reserves the right to refuse to enter into the contract at its sole discretion.
  4. The hotel guarantees the Guest only a room in the booked category, without assuring a specific room.

Booking Types and Cancellation

  1. Porto City Hotel offers two booking types: Standard Booking and Non-Refundable Booking.
  2. The Standard Booking requires no advance payment.
  3. The Non-Refundable Booking requires complete and valid credit card details or proof of bank transfer for the full amount of the stay.
  4. The Standard Booking can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before check-in.
  5. If the Guest does not arrive by 6 p.m. on the check-in day, the Standard Booking lapses automatically and the hotel may release the room to another guest, without compensation.
  6. The Non-Refundable Booking cannot be cancelled; in case of cancellation or no-show, the full amount of the booking will be charged.

Check-in and Check-out

  1. Rooms are available from 4 p.m., depending on category and hotel availability.
  2. On arrival, the Guest must pay the full amount of the stay and of any additional services not paid in advance.
  3. After payment, the room key card is provided, valid for the whole stay.
  4. The room must be vacated by 12 noon on the day of departure, without damage or disturbance.
  5. Staying beyond 12 noon incurs a charge equivalent to one additional night, subject to hotel availability.

Pets

  1. Animals are not allowed in the hotel.
  2. If the Guest brings animals in, the hotel may terminate the contract immediately and require the Guest to leave, with no refund of amounts paid.

Use of the Room

  1. Only the guests named in the booking may use the room.
  2. The Guest must take care of the room and treat other guests with respect, observing the hotel's house rules.
  3. Cooking in the room or in any other area of the hotel is prohibited.
  4. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  5. The Guest is responsible for valuables left in the room; the hotel accepts no liability for loss or theft.

Access to the Room by Hotel Staff

Porto City Hotel and its staff may enter the room during the stay for cleaning, maintenance and repairs.

Price of the Stay and Additional Services

  1. The price of the stay covers use of the room between the arrival and departure dates.
  2. Charges are per night, whether or not the room was actually used.
  3. The hotel reserves the right to change prices if taxes change.
  4. All amounts include VAT unless stated otherwise.

Payment

  1. Payment for the stay and additional services is due at or before check-in, regardless of invoicing.
  2. For stays without a set departure date, advance payment by 12 noon is mandatory; otherwise the contract is terminated immediately.
  3. Additional services may include breakfast and other charges not specified in the accommodation contract.
  4. Payments are accepted in euros, by bank transfer and by Visa, MasterCard, Maestro and Visa Electron credit/debit cards, unless otherwise agreed.

Complaints and Room Defects

  1. Defects must be reported immediately on arrival or during the stay.
  2. The hotel may choose to repair the defect or relocate the Guest to a room of the same category.
  3. Only serious defects that compromise the stay are considered; minor issues create no obligation of repair during the stay.
  4. If the hotel cannot repair or relocate, the contract may be terminated and the amount paid refunded.

Hotel Liability

  1. Porto City Hotel is liable only for damage caused by the hotel's fault.
  2. It is not liable for loss of data or valuables, except where fault is proven.
  3. The hotel is not responsible for the acts of other guests or for delays in making the room available due to force majeure.

Reporting Incidents

The Guest must immediately inform reception of theft, damage, fire or other incidents occurring in the room.

Termination of the Contract

  1. The hotel may terminate the contract in case of non-payment or lack of guarantees.
  2. The Guest may terminate by 7 p.m. on any day, effective at 12 noon the following day.
  3. The contract may be terminated for just cause, including inappropriate behaviour, drug or alcohol abuse, use of the room for unlawful activities, or disturbance of other guests.

Data Protection

  1. The Guest's personal data will be stored and processed by the hotel and selected partners in accordance with the law.
  2. The Guest may object to the use of data for advertising purposes by notifying the hotel in writing.

General Provisions

  1. These Terms and Conditions govern the Guest's stay in full.
  2. Changes to the contract must be made in writing and signed by both parties.
  3. The hotel may use third parties to fulfil contractual obligations.
  4. The invalidity of any clause does not affect the validity of the remaining clauses, which are replaced in accordance with Portuguese law.

Group Bookings

  1. A group is defined as a booking of 8 or more rooms by people travelling together.
  2. The group must appoint a leader responsible for communication with the hotel.
  3. The leader must provide a complete guest list, personal details and contacts before arrival.
  4. Group bookings are always non-refundable.
  5. Payments must be made by bank transfer: 50% one month before and 50% fifteen days before arrival.
  6. Cancellations more than 30 days in advance incur no cost; between 15 and 30 days, one night per room is charged; under 15 days, the full amount of the booking is charged.
  7. The hotel may require a deposit of €20 per person on arrival, delivered by the leader.
  8. The invoice for the stay is issued to the group leader.
